The Necessity of a Harmonious Legal Integration between the Penal Policy and Ohada's Policy

The protection of trademarks is necessitated to safeguard the interests businesspersons and consumers thereby contributing country’s overall economic growth development. This, in turn, calls for a strong system capable adjusting itself with dynamic all stakeholders. Ethiopia has adopted relatively comprehensive trademark legislations 2006. country also negotiating accession World Trade Organization (WTO) since 2003 this requires compliance Related Aspects Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) Agreement, among others. Accordingly, article assesses compatibility Ethiopian TRIPS standard finds that there exists certain degree inconsistency between two legal regimes. It acknowledges Ethiopia’s move harmonize its standards requirements but concludes lot remains be done strike balance regulatory WTO regime.
